TransWarp GS

Applied Engineering TransWarp GS Accelerator

Applied Engineering, Inc. (1988)

The TransWarp GS in an accelerator card for the Apple IIgs with a 65C816 processor running at 7 MHz, increasing the speed of a IIgs to about 2.5 times the stock speed. It automatically installs a Classic Desk Accessory that allows you to test and configure the card. Three speeds may be selected: Normal, Fast, and TransWarp. The TransWarp GS came with an 8K cache card attached, as pictured above. Applied Engineering sold an optional upgrade to increase the cache size to 32K.

This freeware Control Panel by Dave Leffler allows you to view and set the the speeds of the TransWarp GS card from the desktop control panel. See the doc file included in the ShrinkIt GS archive for installation instructions.

This freeware HyperCard GS stack by Scott Gamon takes you step-by-step through upgrading your TransWarp GS. It also has technical information on how the TransWarp GS works. You will need HyperCard GS or the HyperCard GS Player to run this stack. For use with emulators, download this .2mg image of an 800K ProDOS disk that contains both the Hypercard GS Player and the TWGS Upgrade Stack.
